Q |
How did you come up with the idea?
A |
I have been asked this question so often that I decided to write about how I, or rather, how my Grandmother came up with the idea on the home page. Read the story behind Doctor Cook cookware here.
Q |
Hi Celia, What I really wanted to know was if I could use your cookware on a solid fuel Aga/Rayburn? kind regards, Lindsay |
|||
A |
Hi Lindsay Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, you’ll find that these pans make quite a difference. As well as the cookware on the web site and 5 piece set offer I sent you earlier, we do also offer pans for people who suffer from what we term as Advanced Weak Wrists – you might like to check them out. You’ll find that the Doctor Cook pans do work well on an Aga but that you want to try and avoid the handle hanging into the center of the heat. The silicone coating on the 5 piece stainless steel range should keep the handle relatively cool whilst you will find that the hard anodized, Advanced range is slightly lighter in weight. I am however concerned that the helper handle in this 3 piece set will heat up making the hard anodized, Advanced range less suitable for Aga use. Kind regards Celia Gates |

| Q | With the handle of the pan turning downwards (which is a fantastic design for weak wrists), how does it overcome the danger of the handle heating up and possibly becoming too hot? |
|||
| A | Great Question! The handle actually curves away from the heat source. The extended flame guard and protective arch prevent your hand from coming in to contact with the heat and any naked flame is directed away from your hand by the very nature of this design. The handle is also coated in silicone which not only feels soft and comfortable to touch but also stays cool and prevents your hand from slipping. This design really is much safer and easier to use. |
|||
| Q | Can the Casserole be used in the oven? | |||
| A | Not really, the handles will withstand temperatures up to 150 degrees but should not be used in an oven above this temperature. | |||
Q |
Can the Set of 3Hard Anodized Saucepans (The Doctor Cook Advanced Set) be stacked inside each other for space saving in a small kitchen?
A |
The 3 saucepans will stack inside each other. They have not been developed to specifically stack, they have been designed to be safer and easier to handle. You will find that this new ergonomic handle doesn’t stick out as far as a traditional saucepan handle and therefore it will take up less space in your kitchen cupboards. The new design also has a hanging loop so if you do have a hanging rack for your cookware you can store these pans by hanging them up. Please note that the handle with the black and grey silicone coating does not have a hanging loop. |

Q |
Is this cookware suitable for use on an Induction Cooker?
A |
Yes, all Doctor Cook cookware is suitable for use on all cooking surfaces including Induction and also including the use of gas, ceramic, electric or solid fuel cooking surfaces. The only pan that might not work on an Induction Cooker is the 12 cm Pot Pan which has a very small base and consequently depending on the strength of your induction cooker may or may not offer enough contact for the heating system to engage efficiently. If you invest in this item and find that it does not work for what ever reason then under the FULL REASSURANCE GUARANTEE we are happy to fully refund your money. |

Q |
Dear Celia I have read about your interesting concept in cookware and would like to know more about it. Please could you kindly explain the benefits of your new ergonomic cookware design. Thank you and kind regards Barry |
|||
A |
Dear Barry Have you seen a picture of this product? The handle of the Doctor Cook pan is curved and shaped to allow you to grab it in your naturally strongest and most comfortable grip. Have a look at the below x-ray images and allow me to explain the difference Traditionally a saucepan has always had a long straight handle. When you hold a long straight handle you are foreced to bend your wrist akwardly and this can reduce your grip strenght by as much as 45%. Have a look at how cramped the bones are in this position. This is actually preventing your muscles and tendons from working efficiently. Not only can this be quite painful but it can also put a considerable amount of strain on the wrist joint and this could, over time, cause you a lasting injury. You will notice that with the Doctor Cook handle however, you are able to grip the pan in your naturally strongest grip. Think about your grip if you were to throw a punch. With a straigh wrist you are naturally much stronger, this is simply the same ergonomic principles applied to cookware. And because your grip feels sure and safe the task of cooking becomes easier and quicker as a result. Hoping to have helped. Celia |

Q |
Is this cookware dishwasher proof?
A |
YES! | |||
Q |
Hi Celia On your website you say that this cookware takes up less room in the cupboards. I've been trying to work out why, please explain. Jon |
|||
A |
Hey Jon Well, the handles are actually shorter. That's why the pans take up less room in the cupboard. They also stick out less far on the stove which means that there is less risk of you or anybody else knocking them and potentially causing an accident. Does that answer your question? Celia |

Q |
Hi, Can you tell me if your saucepans are light weight or heavy and do you do a catalogue with all your products in? Thanks
A |
The best thing to do is visit the website. If you click on the images of the saucepans you will find further details about each of the pans and in the column on the right hand side you will find the weight of each of the pans. The Cook Shop is effectively our catalogue. This cookware has a solid encapsulated base which gives you a great heat distribution but like all good quality cookware this does make it slightly heavy. We have tried to keep the weight down to a minimum withou sacrificing on the quality for the sake of making the cookware easier to handle. If you are struggling with the weight then you might prefer the 2 handled option which has been developed specifically for people with what we term "Advanced Weak Wrists". Click here for more infomation about cookware for weak wrists. Hoping to have helped. |

Q |
Hi, I have purchased a 20 cm Saucepan from you and recieved this thank you. I was just wondering if I can also use a 2 tier steamer with this pan, what with it having the pouring lips.
A |
I see no reason why you can't use a 2 tier steamer with your new 20 cm Saucepan. Unfortunately we don't produce a steamer specifically for this pan and I am unsure what type of 2 tier steamer you are using. Depending on its size and the way it fits into the pan, you may find that a little steam escapes. This will not affect your cooking but you may just need to add a little more water to the pan to prevent it from boiling dry.
