Obesity is the most common cause of mortality in the developed world. It can lead to degenerative illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemias, cardiovascular problems, coronary heart disease, some cancers, pulmonary failure and joint disorders. 50% of cancer in the US is associated with Western dietary habits. People who are obese are more likely to develop repetitive strain injuries so maintaining a good joint posture is highly important in preventing injury. Maintaining a healthy diet with plenty of vegetables, fruit and whole grains is key to overcoming obesity. A healthy diet should also be low in sugars, salts and fats and should be combined with regular exercise. A 30 minute afternoon walk followed by a healthy, early evening meal can do wonders for your health and quality of life. |
